Oh Baby!

Waiting for baby....Ashlie, Rob, Olivia with Natalie. Alex opted to stay with Grandma Jackson but the girls came up when it was almost time to deliver so they could be there to greet their new brother. They visited their mom, kissed her and wished her luck then waited to be invited in. They did great!

The birth of a baby is always a miracle. This little guy gave us a scare. The labor and delivery went well but he had the cord tight around his neck, looped around his shoulder and his body. He needed resuscitation and we were so impressed at this medical center. With the push of a button the whole NICU team were there working on him. Within five minutes he was breathing on his own. I can appreciate people who do this naturally but the stimulation and oxygen they gave him initially was just not enough and if he'd had to be transported I just don't think the outcome would have been so positive. While too much intervention can be bad, it's good to have competent medical care right there when you need it. Our family has had a couple of others who required serious help and we have been fortunate to be in a good place to get it. I'll post more pictures later but this will give you a glimpse for now.

The baby (yet unnamed) weighs 7 lb. 7 oz and is 21 1/2 inches long. He arrived 8/15/08 at 2:38 PM (corrected time - I had initially said 2:30)
