Wow! I loved this exhibit. Click the post title for information about the exhibit of original works of Carl Bloch currently at BYU's Museum of Art.  Do not miss it if you can possibly get here. I heard today that they have extended evening hours to accommodate.  Stay at my place if you're out of town. I'm not really close to Provo but it's within driving distance. And it's free! You can rent an iPad for narration $3. You can't beat this. I'm going back again if I possibly can. There are other exhibits too. It's unfortunate we can't take photos in the museum but it's etched on my memory and heart.  See his work here.

I also enjoyed chamber music on Tuesday with a friend.  This is my week for culture.  Very nice experiences in an otherwise stressful time of my life.

Good news too.  I love to attend Campus Education Week at BYU every August.  I think I've only missed it twice in 20+ years.  I usually have to pay for a motel and they're pricey but this year I landed a spot in campus housing (just got the letter).  I'll be assigned a roommate because I couldn't find any single friends to go with me and I had to pay in advance, but so worth it.  Where else could I stay for $87 a week?  It is so fun for me to go.  I'm looking forward to my little staycation.

I enjoyed this article about my favorite Education Week instructor.  Regular, working and teaching folks give up a week of their summer to volunteer. I have gone almost every year for around 20+ years I guess.  I LOVE her classes.  The books she has written are also incredible and her joint efforts with Liz Lemon Swindle (artist) are inspirational.  She has an incredible mind, loves family history and church history. Education Week

I love my annual vacation at BYU Education Week. This week it got interrupted one day for something I need to do but I love this experience and I always learn so much!

End of a Busy Week

I finished Breaking Dawn before Education Week and I was not disappointed! Then I immersed myself in some amazing, spiritually enlightening classes for the rest of the week. The BYU campus was beautiful and it's a joy for me just to be there soaking up the spirit.

I came home on Saturday expecting to mow my lawn but dreading doing it in the heat of the day. I was pleasantly surprised to find Fred had already done it! I spent the rest of the day unpacking, doing laundry and catching up on blogs and email.

Education Week 2008

I'm off to Education Week so I probably won't have updates for a few days. I leave for Provo Monday and attend classes from 8:00 AM to 9:00 PM Tues. through Fri. One evening I will probably attend a show - most likely Pride and Prejudice if I can get tickets. This is a tradition that started maybe 17/18 years ago? Can't remember exactly, but I look forward to it every year to recharge my batteries.

I've been so busy I haven't quite finished Breaking Dawn. I can't believe it's taken me so long to read but summer is a crazy time what with mowing lawns, playing, working, etc. I have to finish it by tonight! The story did not go the way I expected it to. Stephenie did it again with the surprise and supernatural elements to keep the reader turning pages. Sometimes life just interferes - what can I say?

Education Week 08

It's that time again. Planning to attend Campus Education Week at BYU. This has been a tradition for me for hmmmm, when did I start? In the early 90s (???). My journal-keeping is not consistent so I'm not sure I could find out exactly. Anyway, I missed in 1995 (the year we had three weddings and a move that summer) but other than that I have probably made it annually for about 15 years. It's my idea of a vacation, or you might say "staycation" - the catchword for the year of the gas-dragon. Some people think it odd to spend my rare vacation days this way but if you've ever gone, you understand why.

Back to work

Always hard to come back after vacation, but, we had a really nice week in Provo.

My favorite Education week teachers were Michael Ballam, Susan Easton Black, Stephen Lamb, and Robert Young. It is amazing!

On Saturday I got lost trying to get to a cabin near Park City for a wedding and wasted much of the day, then got home to do laundry, clean house, watch Nat's kids, cut hair, shop and mow the lawn. Sunday we celebrated Olivia's seventh birthday at Natalie's house. So, back to the grind today but with a spiritual boost because of last week.

Making some major decisions right now, so we'll see what next weekend brings. Looks like we're going to make a change in the R.S. Presidency. With my life changes and the ward taking my secretary to be a missionary, my counselors are feeling pretty worn out and ready to go too so we're going to change across the board. I wonder what is around the corner now?
