Are you a type A personality?

Take the quiz here.
The results of my test: "You have some Type A features, but are not the 'typical Type A'. You can probably really benefit from the resources [listed in article]. While your health and happiness aren't as threatened as some, your chances for improvement are that much greater than those with much stronger Type A tendencies. With some lifestyle changes and a few stress relief techniques, you may be in great shape!"

AKA Nigella Lawson

So, another online personality test. Which celebrity chef are you? Ta-da, I am Nigella Lawson. I guess this is where I have to admit I've never heard of her. If she's on TV that would explain it since I don't watch it. I once saw Rachael Ray - I liked her style. But, who is this woman? Looks like she is improving her website currently so all I really learned about her is what she looks like and I don't think the test made this particular comparison - dang!!Maybe if I stay tuned I can find some good recipes for the prolific squash in my garden - something that fits with my celebrity personality of course.

If you want to take the test, click the title of this post. Or if you want to check out Nigella, she is at www.nigella.com

Personality????

Jenn suggested this quiz that would be better than the Disney Princess one. Jenn is a huge Jane Austen fan, mind you. So, I took the test.... hmmmm. One of the questions was "who [of several actresses] would play you?" Emma Thompson was the only one I knew and I like her so I picked her and it happens, she is the one I'm like. Does anyone ever get a different actress based on the other choices or was this coincidental? I mean, a BLONDE? How accurate could it be, really? Just curious about these "scientific" evaluations of personality.

I am Elinor Dashwood!

Take the Quiz here!

Speaking of personality typing - The Color Code (Taylor Hartman) test says I'm predominantly blue (48 - 53%) depending on the perspective at the time I did it - (if I followed the directions and answered according to my "as a child" I have about 28% white and 48% blue; as an adult only 13% white, 24% red and 53% blue). Yellow consistently comes out very low on the scale - I'm just not the carefree, happy-go-lucky, try-anything-once-type and I guess I've developed the assertive personality I have now over the years. As a child I was very compliant and eager to please. Now I pretty much tell what I think but try to be at least somewhat tactful in the process. I'm told my worst personality combination would be dominant red with blue secondary. At least in anything more than occasional doses. I believe this! Too much competition for my liking.

My dominant color: TRUE BLUE!

Blue (Motive: Intimacy)

Blues are motivated by Intimacy. They seek to genuinely connect with others, and need to be understood and appreciated. Everything they do is quality-based. They are loyal friends, employers, and employees. Whatever or whomever they commit to is their sole (and soul) focus. They love to serve and give of themselves freely in order to nurture others' lives.

Blues have distinct preferences and have the most controlling personality. Their personal code of ethics is remarkably strong and they expect others to live honest, committed lives as well. They enjoy sharing meaningful moments in conversation as well as paying close attention to special life events (e.g. birthdays and anniversaries). Blues are dependable, thoughtful, and analytical; but can also be self-righteous, worry-prone, and moody. They are "sainted pit-bulls" who never let go of something or someone once they are committed. When you deal with a BLUE, be sincere and make a genuine effort to understand and appreciate them.

Of course we're all combinations of colors but these are the color core motives (according to the author).
  • RED (Motive: POWER)—These are the power wielders. Power: the ability to move from point A to point B and get things done, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of vision and leadership and generally are responsible, decisive, proactive and assertive.
  • BLUE (Motive: INTIMACY)—These are the do-gooders. Intimacy: connecting, creating quality relationships and having purpose, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring gr eat gifts of quality and service and are generally loyal, sincere, and thoughtful.
  • WHITE (Motive: PEACE)—These are the peacekeepers. Peace: the ability to stay calm and balanced even in the midst of conflict, is what motivates and drives these people. They bring great gifts of clarity and tolerance and are generally kind, adaptable, and good-listeners.
  • YELLOW (Motive: Fun)—These are the fun lovers. Fun: the joy of living life “in the moment”, is what motivates and dr ives these people. They bring great gifts of enthusiasm and optimism and are generally charismatic, spontaneous, and sociable.

My Disney Princess....

Glitterfy.com - Glitter Graphics

I took the quiz; it's official. The Disney Princess I'm most like is: Jasmine.

An exotic and fiery beauty, Jasmine doesn't want much. She just wants to marry for love and to experience life outside the palace. A strong independent woman, she is ready for some adventure and is quite capable of taking matters into her own hands by rejecting unsuitable suitors and sneaking off into the marketplace alone. When she meets Prince Ali she begins to get a taste how the other half lives and finds the freedom she has longed for.

I have to agree. I don't see myself in a ballgown , an updo hairstyle isn't me (I'm not Cinderella) , I'm not naive enough to think Prince Charming will take care of all my problems and I don't love to clean up after the crew (no Snow White here though I may come close at times), I don't swim like the Little Mermaid, I never sleep past 8, usually 7 (definitely not Sleeping Beauty), my idea of camping is the KOA (not Pocahontas) and I like to read but I'm not compulsive; nor am I overly self-sacrificing - I like Belle but she's not me either. I would like to see the world, so the magic carpet idea suits me fine

I enjoyed this addition on Glenae's blog but the link didn't work for me so I found the quiz at http://toys.about.com/b/2005/09/09/disney-princess-quiz.htm

My Phobia

This would NEVER be me.....
Acrophobia is a generalized fear of all heights. However, I once heard someone say it can be confused with a fear of falling. If you are OK with heights in a safe place (behind a window or other protective enclosure) it's actually fear of falling. I think I'm somewhere in the middle...if I look down from a tall building (like the lookout at the Empire State Building) I will get sweaty palms, etc. I also have reactions in movies that portray such things even though I am in no imminent danger so I guess I have some degree of acrophobia. But I am often OK if not looking down so I'm not extreme here.

I will mention the crazy person on YouTube who did the treacherous hike on impossible cliffs, while filming, made me nauseous and I couldn't even watch the whole thing.

So, FYI ~ here are the ten most common phobias. Please participate in my survey on the right sidebar because I'm curious how my "readers" compare. I realize I only entered the top ten and some have others like social phobia, etc. but after I posted and some voted I couldn't change the options. I would have included an "other" category if I had really thought it through.

1 - Acrophobia - Fear of Heights
2 - Claustrophobia - Fear of Enclosed Spaces
3 - Nyctophobia - Fear of the Dark
4 - Ophidiophobia - Fear of Snakes
5 - Arachnophobia - Fear of Spiders
6 - Trypanophobia - Fear of Injection or Medical Needles
7 - Astraphobia - Fear of Thunder and Lightning
8 - Nosophobia - Fear of Having a Disease
9 - Mysophobia AKA Germophobia - Fear of Germs
10-Triskaidekaphobia - Fear of the Number 13

DISC Personality Profile

Jon had a class that used the DISC personality profile and he encouraged us all to take the test and see what it revealed. Wiki says: "DISC is the four quadrant behavioral model based on the work of William Moulton Marston Ph.D. (1893 - 1947) to examine the behavior of individuals in their environment or within a specific situation. DISC looks at behavioral styles and behavioral preferences.."

It reminds me a bit of the Myers-Briggs Personality Indicator. I have always been interested in psychiatry, psychology and what is often called "pop psychology." So, of course I had to take the test.

For the record it says I am trying to be a Perfectionist (apparently I'm not there yet!). It says the real me is Counselor and the real world blend is Practitioner. What does it all mean?

Well, apparently the way it all comes together, graphed, etc. says Dominance is my lowest trait (some might argue this one), then gradually increasing in Influence (social), Stability/Security (I'll admit I'm no risk-taker) to Conscientious (analytical, detail-oriented). The graphs indicated I have been trying for a long time to be someone I am not, meaning I have worked much harder than I would have needed to if I had been more accepting of who I am and developed that instead of developing my weaker points into my main attributes. Hmmmmm

The real-world blend of Practitioner is the person who strives to be expert at one thing, but is often seen as expert at everything. I have often said my kids might as well call me Dex, because Dex knows.... (They love to call me for phone numbers, medical information, hours of operation, how and what to cook when the cupboard is bare, location and referrals for just about everything)

Now I guess I need someone to explain this all to me and tell me who I really am since I never quite figured that out. Mostly I think I was waiting for the chance to be my own person as opposed to somebody's daughter (the stable "survivor" but different), somebody's wife (the hard one to live with), somebody's mother (the slave-driver) and somebody's grandmother (the fan - really!).

I wonder what I will be when I grow up.
