"If ye are prepared ye shall not fear"

We've been counseled for years to prepare for emergencies, whether act of nature of economy, health, and employment problems. Here are a couple of articles about the increased need for the church's storehouses and canneries: St.Louis and Greensboro. They are scattered around the country; not just in Utah. Another archived article explains the system here: Benson

We are advised to put our grocery stores in our homes where truck strikes, famine, and lack of money won't keep us from being able to eat. The church can't store enough for all of us but if we store enough we can be prepared to take care of ourselves, our families and neighbors.

My challenge now is to be sure that what I store is really what I would use and to learn how to use more dehydrated foods like TVP and grains that store for a long time. In this case the trick is to have the right spices and accompaniments to make these foods palatable. I also need to prepare with alternative cooking sources in case utilities are limited.
