R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Respect denotes both a positive feeling of esteem for a person or other entity (such as a nation or a religion), and also specific actions and conduct representative of that esteem. - Wikipedia

If we are only concerned with whether or not others hear us, we will likely never hear what the others have to say.  I believe it is more important to listen than to be heard.  And if we listen, we might actually learn something, even if that person can't hear us.

“The best thing to give to your enemy is forgiveness; to an opponent, tolerance; to a friend, your heart; to your child, a good example; to a father, deference; to your mother, conduct that will make her proud of you; to yourself, respect; to all men, charity.” - Benjamin Franklin

“I'm not concerned with your liking or disliking me... All I ask is that you respect me as a human being.” - Jackie Robinson

“To be one, to be united is a great thing. But to respect the right to be different is maybe even greater.” - Unknown

"You don't love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear." -Helen Keller

A man has two ears and one mouth that he hear much and speak little. (German proverb)

"Blindness separates us from things but deafness separates us from people."  -Helen Keller
