Party - work style!

We had a going-away party for my secretary who is leaving to join Americorps. She has been assigned to work with mental health in Denver. Unfortunately, government moves s-l-o-w-l-y and I don't have a replacement for her so for the next 5-6 weeks, I'll be doing her job too! She gave lots of notice, but the wheels don't turn fast, especially in tough economic times when new hires are a little hard to come by.

Americorps is an "almost volunteer" program that uses professionals to help in underserved areas in the country - in this case in public health. They pay a very small allowance for the year of service but provide training and experience that helps on the resume. After graduating last year she found health educator jobs were hard to come by right now (like all other jobs!) so she decided to enhance her resume this way, try living on her own in a new city (she's 24), and have an adventure.
A few of us took her to lunch on her last day...
RNs - Me & Kathy (we are Perinatal Case Managers in the Reproductive Health Program), Missi (one of Hilary's secretary friends from the Violence and Injury Prevention Program), Hilary (our "former" secretary), and Deborah (CNM - Mortality Review Coordinator in Reproductive Health). In a program of 11 people, 3 of us are named Deborah/Debra. Shows our age....
