General Conference

Watching conference, still in my PJs. What a nice day and wonderful messages. You can watch too here.

The first song by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir was We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet. They sing this during one session at every conference. It was penned by my ancestor, William Fowler. It seems appropriate that this pioneer, one of the Williams for which my dad was named, would be performed at the opening of conference today. I'm grateful for the spirit I feel with this and every time I hear or sing this hymn. Here is the recording from another time.

Five new Temples were announced — two in the U.S. and three internationally — Hartford, Conn.; Indianapolis, Ind.; Tijuana, Mexico; Urdaneta, Philippines; and Lisbon, Portugal.

We were reminded this morning that Prophets tell us what we need to hear; not what we went to hear.
