"Enquiring minds want to know" ~ Better now but...

Test results show increasing WBCs so still infection but did find out I've acquired another infection that sometimes happens when people take multiple antibiotics.  It's a common bacteria (c-diff. for short) and is usually handled well but after antibiotics wipe out the good bacteria this can get out of control.  It's kind of unusual for someone like me; common in the hospital with people having many IV drugs, etc.  Treatment?  More antibiotics - yep!  Apparently they have to kill off the c-diff. to allow more good bacteria to grow.  And the meds are the yucky ones I was on before (supposedly to take care of this) and they make everything I eat taste nasty and metallic.  10 days of fun!  I should at least be able to lose a few if food tastes bad.  Trouble is the other problem encourages soft, bland, starchy foods. At least I have a little more information now.  I hate not knowing.

  1. Eat lots of yogurt for the probiotics while you're on the meds!

  3. I hear probiotics is the way to go if you want to help your immune system. I look forward to trying them and seeing if they make a difference in my life. The link below is where I order my probiotics. They have made a huge difference in my sister in laws life, as well as her kids. Hope you feel better soon.

  4. I've been doing the probiotics too. I got some Kefir (it's in drink form) and I also added acidophilus. I hate antibiotics so I'd doing what I can to counter the effects. I think the docs are too anxious to prescribe and the original wrong diagnosis with treatment was not good! Thanks for the suggestion. I'll check out the site.
