Aaron Shamy was our closing keynote speaker at the Utah Public Health Association Conference today. He has done incredible things because he works hard to achieve his goals. Check out this video clip to know a little more about him, then the next one which he put together as part of a contest for a scholarship. Shortly after producing the video his three year old son was diagnosed with leukemia. He said that was the biggest challenge of all for him.
I'll write some more later about another incredible speaker and humanitarian.
This is where I share RANDOM rants and ruminations, beliefs, lists, dreams, goals, frustrations, bargains, and social injustices (EVAGATION, n. the act of wandering; excursion; a roving or rambling). More about me than you wanted to know. You may not agree with me but I hope you share my belief that what makes America great is freedom to have and express differing views. Enjoy peeking into my public journal if you want to know that part of me I share here. Enjoy!

Bucket List
I was reading about this on Divorce Candy. They suggest making a bucket list of things you wanted to do but perhaps didn't after saying "I do." Sounds like a great idea. Mine are more general in nature rather than specific events but the idea is the same - focus on something positive you want to do. Obviously time and money are handicaps but I think it's OK to dream anyway. This is the start of my bucket list.
- Travel (take vacations!)
- Dance
- More scripture study (read to understand)
- Take a class or two for fun
- Make time for family history research
- Do a walking tour of SLC (staycation)
- At least another Broadway show or two

I did it!
Below: copied and pasted from my VISA account!!!Current Account Information as of 05/19/2009
Current Balance $0.00
Current Balance $0.00
(I will now use only for travel and online purchases but will pay off immediately).
I have no debt except my house payment, which has also been reduced to 15 years. With any luck I'll have it paid off early!
You can achieve goals with WORK, perseverance and sacrifice. In sculpting, you just chip away at everything that is NOT what you want. Mt. Rushmore was created one chip at a time.
The difference between perseverance and obstinacy is that one comes from a strong will, and the other from a strong won't. ~Henry Ward Beecher

Shortcut to New Year's Resolutions
I guess the New Year should bring my list of resolutions. I found this one on Meridian and it could work for me too. It would also help me to reduce my stress over writing my own list and help me accomplish one item (procrastination of the resolution list). Why reinvent the wheel anyway?
One thing Susan (the author) has already accomplished that I haven't is living in Hawaii. I know I was supposed to be Polynesian (I hate the cold and love to go barefoot). Maybe I need to add this one to my list.
