Another perspective

Cash for clunkers sounds good and will help if you are in the market for a new vehicle and happen to have a gas guzzler (not just a clunker), but here's another perspective. We may be creating a bubble similar to the real estate bubble because these cars cannot be resold - something many people count on. Trucks are especially important to small business owners who are already feeling the squeeze without health insurance and in an unsteady economy. Something to think about here.

In other political realms... they wonder why we worry about our rights being taken away.

The ACLU recently threatened to sue Pace High School in Santa Rosa County, Florida, claiming that school officials were endorsing religion during school time. The school decided to settle out of court and, according to settlement agreements, school employees and officials were banned from engaging in religious activities before, during, and after school hours on campus.

The ACLU is now claiming that Pace High School principal Frank Lay and athletic director Robert Freeman violated the agreement when they offered a lunchtime prayer at a recent school building dedication ceremony. Criminal contempt charges have since been filed. Lay and Freeman are being represented by Liberty Counsel.

Robert Smith is a businessman in the Florida Panhandle and creator of LayFreemanDefense.com. He says he started the website with help from an area dentist and a history teacher after he heard his personal friends had been charged. "This is terrible -- and it's time we stand up against this type of situation," he urges. (Source: One News Now)
