Christmas Letter?

I'll admit, this break with tradition has been tough for me. I have always enjoyed the newsletters I received and assumed others enjoyed mine. After hearing a few negative comments about not wanting to hear about my family drama and jokes about Christmas letters, I've about decided to just settle for the blog. Right now it's private so only those who expressed interest need to see it anyway and I have said plenty over the past almost three years. I guess if you want to know what's on my mind and in my life, it's here for the viewing.

I do wish you all a great new year and apologize for not getting any "real" letters or cards out. I did buy the stamps and the cards, but life seems to have interfered - again. I guess they'll still be there next year (if postage doesn't go up and I can find them)... Maybe another resolution for me - start with finding out who actually wants to know - who are those Enquiring Minds?

  1. Debbie,
First of all, I LOVE Christmas letters. Love, love, love them. I have always loved yours because I always wanted to keep up with your family. My mom would always mail the one she got from you to me after she read it so I could keep up with you too -- this was of course before the days of our blogging. I see the Christmas letter as a dying trend because of the Internet. That makes me sad, because I always keep the ones I receive as a record of the year. I am one of those nerds who loves to go back and read the letters of years gone by. And it's so rare these days to get personal mail sent by the actual postal service, that Christmas is one of those treasured times we still get a little personal mail. So I am still sending mine out (did you get mine? I sent you all one, but was not sure I had the right address. It didn't come back to me, so I'm assuming it did.) Anyway, this is just my encouragement to keep it up.

Also, I don't know if it's just my computer screen, but with your new color scheme, I can't read the comment links under your posts. I just blindly clicked, hoping they were still there and I was able to comment. But I can't actually see anything. Weird.

  2. I, too, LOVE receiving Christmas letters. Even though I read your blog and see you in person, I'm still disappointed that I won't be getting your Christmas letter this year. :( And it's true what Ashli said - Christmas is the one time of year I can count on getting personal mail via the postal service and even though I love technology, it is just nice to get a letter in the mailbox from time to time.
