It's hardly worthy of mention but Huckabee spoke with Doug Wright. Here's what he said,

"Utah doesn't need to think there is a problem with me," Huckabee said on the KSL Radio Doug Wright Show Friday morning. And a little more about this subject:

I think he's mostly working toward the next campaign and back-peddling is typical in politics, especially when trying to get your foot out of your mouth. This phenomenon of course is not exclusive to him.

ReplyDeleteThe other links were just what came up when I searched for background on the comment. I have no idea who these writers are really but it was a commentary on the subject and interesting to see how it got people going. There was no doubt it was Huckabee's attempt to kill Romney's campaign. Diluting the Republican party had a lot to do with why we ended up with McCain who never had a chance against Obama. The purpose here was to show the interview with Doug Wright. Since some readers might now know what the controversy was about I searched to see what was out there. It's not about doctrine; it's about the way he played the religion card, stayed in the campaign when he should have bowed out and ultimately hurt the conservatives. It did not win any Mormon fans when he was clearly out to "Kill the Beast" (Mormon candidate). Throwing out that comment was very unprofessional - of all things he could think to say, pull a piece out of context without the further information that this doctrine is based upon. It was pretty clear what his goal was. He's basically a good guy and he should know better. He did explain to Doug that he has no animosity, at least at this point and I take ALL politicians' comments (as well as the reporters' review of them) with a grain of salt.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry this was offensive to you personally - it was not intended.
