Another Update

The good-bye that never ends. Turns out it's a lot of hassle to get a big rig ready to go across the continent - safe, legal and packed evenly. Ken and Jon have spent several full days on it. Now there are new shocks, and tires on the Suburban (notice it's carrying the load much better but we really got the runaround in getting them) and a good hitch with equilizer/stabilizer (something like that) to prevent sway. Wheel bearings on the trailer were repacked and whatever it is you do to them. Wiring is done, lights and brakes work and they're packed. Looks like they'll actually pull out tomorrow morning.

They've been taking time now to make sure they don't get stuck on the road but it's been frustrating to them to be homeless at my house - we had 11 sleeping here last night. But, it seems they find one item per day to keep them from heading out. The Suburban battery suddenly went dead yesterday as they were to do a road test. It looks like a brand new battery, but no paperwork on it for warranty purposes.

Well, on the positive side, we've done more hugging than is our custom. Every day when I head out to work, I hug them all since they thought they were heading out!

We're supposed to have Fred's cousin over night tonight. He was to pick him up at the airport, bring him home and then drive him to the MTC tomorrow. Right now I'm afraid there's no room at the inn. I hope he doesn't mind the couch.

We're going to have Kenlee for the coming week while Justin and Krista go on vacation. I know one day they're all going to move out and I'll go crazy with the quiet...

I'm heading to the singles conference in Orem, then the Mormon Miracle Pageant in Manti. After my vacation to Japan and Education Week, I'll probably plan a trip to Charleston, S.C. - check out the Atlantic beaches, see the kids in Georgetown, and a little of the old South. After doing the work of three of us this month, I'll be overdue for a vacation for sure. Now, when will I clean my house, take care of my yard and clean my sheds/garage?
