To-do in Utah!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MY MOM TODAY!

Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival - The Thanksgiving Point Gardens welcome spring with Utah's only annual Tulip Festival, April 16 through May 1, featuring more than 250,000 tulips in nearly 100 unique varieties. Tulips and other early spring flowers are in bloom in the 55-acre Gardens and throughout 15 different themed areas.

Ushering the start of spring, the tulip gardens are redesigned each year to create new and beautiful displays. In addition to the colorful blooms, Thanksgiving Point's Tulip Festival includes:
- Garden Education Classes with Thanksgiving Point Experts, Monday through Thursday at 1 p.m., Friday at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m., and Saturday at 11 a.m., 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.
- Guided Garden Tours, Monday through Friday at noon and Saturday at noon and 3 p.m.
- Live music on Fridays and Saturdays including strolling bagpipers, patio acoustic performances and amphitheater entertainment
- Handicraft and food vendors at the Waterfall Amphitheater
- Open-air dining at Trellis Cafe
- A guest photo contest; a winning garden photo will be published in the Deseret News and The Salt Lake Tribune
- Artwork from local artist Sarah Samuelson, which features tulips from the Thanksgiving Point Gardens, on display for the duration of the festival.

The Tulip Festival will also feature a cultural celebration on Dutch Day at the Gardens, April 24. Festivities will include a traditional costume contest, children's activities, accordion trio and Idelwild Quartet performances and authentic Dutch items from the Old Dutch Store.

Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday-Saturday, through May 1. Tickets can be purchased at the Thanksgiving Point Gardens. The cost for the Tulip Festival is the same as Garden's admission, $10 for adults, $9 for seniors and $6 for children aged 3-12. Entrance is free to Thanksgiving Point property and garden members and children under 2 years.

Who I am...

I'm "Dr. Mom," "Dex," "Merry Maid" (or Jetson's "Rosie"), "Betty Crocker," "Nurse Nancy," "Mom's B&B," "Miller Moving & Storage," "Dear Abby," "Got Junk?" "Google Maps," "Wiki-mom," "Memory Keeper" or "The Nanny" depending on who needs me at the moment. I'm a Mormon mom and grandma (traditional but sometimes unconventional). I like the new term for us boomer grandmas (glam-mother) because we have spent our whole lives redefining rules and stereotypes. WYSIWYG! I must have chocolate every day and I can say the alphabet backwards (fast!) - so can all my kids - our claim to fame!

Fundamental Principles of Our Religion

We don't spend our twenties trying to "find" ourselves....we know who we are. This gives us a jump-start on life!

Dulcet - adj. A sound or voice so gorgeous you just have to listen to it again and again no matter what. So recognizable that even the faintest hint of it in the distance can send your mind reeling.
